Landscape is in front, but also behind. It is to the left and to the right. Landscape is a point of view. Landscape is real, but it is also artificial. Landscape is nature, but it is also culture. Landscape is an image. Landscape is a stage. It is in the landscape that we find ourselves. It is in the landscape that we get lost.
By the simple act of framing, or through little interventions, Anne Bjerge Hansen and Guillaume Janot play with the landscapes that surround us. They offer up a window onto our world as if it were some strange planet. Theirs is a game of ping-pong between fiction and reality, here as elsewhere.
Anne Bjerge Hansen, Danish artist, lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland. She works principally, but not exclusively in video.
Guillaume Janot, French artist, lives and works in Paris. He travels regularly in China and Australia. He works principally, but not exclusively in photography.
